"Old time, roots, Americana, folk, bluegrass- whatever... it's just plain old pleasure." -The Boston Globe

#7 Most Aired Bluegrass Album of 2012!

We just found out that our last CD, "American Story" is the #7 most aired Bluegrass Album of 2012! Right under Alison Krauss! Check out the link for the Roots Music Report to see other artists who made the top 100.
We're having a great time on our tour out west. We have one show left, and then we'll head back home to Nashville. It was great to visit with lots of friends in Colorado. The boys enjoyed their free ski passes!! And we got to tell lots of kids about Bluegrass music in Scottsbluff NE, and then play for a crowd of 600 for Valentines Day! Who would've thought Nebraska had such a music loving audience. They were awesome! We even made the front page of the paper.

We're looking forward to our show in Bozeman tonight and hope to see everyone next time. We'll miss the mountains, but it's never too long before we come back!

Upcoming Tour OUT WEST/We're back from Germany!

 Hey Folks,

We hope you've had a great holiday season and are feeling great about 2013! We are looking forward to our upcoming tour in February to the West and Midwest. We are excited to have Del McCoury Alum Mike Bub playing Bass with us on this tour, along with critically acclaimed singer songwriter Megan McCormick. It will be a special tour, and we're psyched to come and see our friends out West!

Bluegrass Jamboree--in Germany!

We had a busy December performing in Germany for the Bluegrass Jamboree! It was 18 cities (including Prague) in 20 days. Whew! It was a busy trip, but it was awesome to see so many great sites in Germany and with our buddies from Audie Blaylock and Redline, and the country duo Caleb Klauder and Reeb Willms. Some highlights were Munich, Dresden, Prague, The Black Forrest, and the town Martin Luther was born Eisleben. Check out our pictures from the trip on Facebook!

Germany was a very cool place to be with very sweet, hard working people! They do Christmas really well with an outdoor Christmas market in every town. Lots of Gluvine and Brats. Oh and sparkling water and cappuccino and delicious rolls, cheeses and deli meats. And don't forget the Pretzels and bier...Man! We spent a lot of time on our Mercedes Coach bus gazing out at the snowy countryside. It was a total blast to have such great musicians on tour with us too. At the end of each night we did a Grand Finale where we all got to jam on a few tunes together. That was definitely a highlight. Now we're all planning our next trip to Germany. What a great place.

Megan McCormick Plays with Bearfoot!!

 Hey Folks,

We'd like to announce that Nora Jane is stepping away from Bearfoot to focus on promoting her new solo album that is now in the works.

We are excited to now have original member Angela Oudean sing many of the Bearfoot classics as her and co-founder Jason Norris continue to define the instrumental feel of the band. Todd Grebe will be singing his original brand of roots music and you will be hearing some new originals from the outstanding addition of Megan McCormick who will be joining us for all of our currently scheduled shows. Many of you know Megan as both a fantastic, out of this world vocalist and guitarist, and also as someone who has a long history with Bearfoot. Megan is from Alaska, and even filled in for a summer on guitar for Bearfoot a few years back. She also wrote “Oh My Love”, the opening track from our Doors and Windows album that hit #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Charts in 2009. We hope you are as thrilled as we are about getting to hear Megan with the band and hope to see you down the road at one of our upcoming shows.

Click here to preview some tracks on Amazon.com from Megan's recent release "Honest Words" that was featured in Oprah Magazine as one of the top things to put on your iPod.

Other cool things about Megan:

*live performance featured on the CBS Morning show

* Her song “Bullseye”, was featured in a Lifetime movie called “Prayers for Bobby”

Some great Quotes about Megan:

“ [Megan] expresses her joy and agony with a sound that blurs the lines between blues, rock and alternative-country, while channeling everyone from Bonnie Raitt to Steely Dan." –Relix Magazine

“[Megan] delivers both a bluesy punch and a sense of genuine refinement, [she’s] tough and tender, cool and classy.” – USA Today

"Cross Sheryl Crow with Bonnie Raitt and you get Honest Words, a bluesy, lovelorn showcase for singer-songwriter McCormick's bright alto and growly guitar."- Oprah Magazine

Summer Highlights

June-Pagosa Springs Bluegrass Festival

We love Pagosa! Between the hot springs, the wonderful people, food, and scenery... you can't go wrong. We spent a few days teaching Kate Hamre's "Bluegrass Camps for Kids" before the festival (awesome, talented children!). Then went on to have a great time all weekend pickin' and getting to see some of our fav bands and friends The Deadly Gentlemen, Eli and Cahalen, and Finders and Youngberg. Definitely a highlight!

ROMP was an awesome festival in Owensboro KY put on by the Internationl Bluegrass Music Museum. They put on a super great festival with Vince Gill, The Punch Brothers, Old Crow, and a great new band find for me (Angela) was Pokey La Farge, plus many many others. We didn't get any pictures from the festy because it was over 100 degrees every day we were there. We barely survived... ok maybe a little dramatic... but seriously it was freakin hot.

July- Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival

We had a really great time at Grey Fox. It was our first time to the new festival site, and it was awesome. A whole musicians camp area, and three great stages of music... we were running around the whole time trying to catch all of the great acts. Angela, Nora Jane and Jason even sat in with Anne and Pete Sibley on Sunday morning. What a treat. We gave out tons of fun meters! You should check out Della Mae, and Tornado Rider!

July- La Roche Bluegrass Festival

OMG! We went to France! I've never had so much fresh bread and cheese in my life! And guess what! The people in La Roche were very sweet! We had the best time, and even got to pick some tunes with some great gypsy swing players. I also found out that Bluegrass music is more popular percentage wise in the Czech Republic than it is in the USA. Over 300 Bluegrass bands there. Whoa!

August- Mountain Stage

We got to make our 3rd appearance on the awesome NPR radio show "Mountain Stage" but this time it was in Fairbanks Alaska and featured tons of great Alaskan bands. It was such a treat to share the stage with Steve Brown and the Bailers, Pat and Robin, and Susan Grace with her inspirational Alaskan songs that brought a tear to my eye. A touching evening of passionate muscians and music and audience members in Alaska.

August-Kantishna Music Festival in Denal National Park

To top off the whole summer... we got to drive all the way to the end of the road in Denali National Park and see hours of breaktaking mountain scenes, and animals like this bear! Click here to see more pics on Facebook. Once again, MANY awesome bands... some favs to check out were Tim Easton and Sweet Ginger Heat.

Unfortunately our River Rafting trip was cancelled due to wild fire threats. We are soo sorry we didn't get to do the trip... and we are excited to try again for next year. Our hearts go out to all the people who have been affected by wild fires this year. There's a lot of you. : (

Also check out our newest music video for the song Midnight in Montana! We made it ourselves while travelling through Montana last fall. Hope you like it!! Click here to watch it!

Thanks for keeping up with Bearfoot! Hope to see you soon!!

Alaska Tour! 1st trip to France!!

 Dear Friends,

OMG! We've been having way too much fun lately. It's kind of rediculous. We had the most awesome tour ever! And sooo much good food. We're thinking about calling it the Bearfoot Food Tour 2012. It all started in Dallas TX with the 3 foot wide pizza, handmade right in front of you, to the TX BBQ at the Ricegrass festival, then off to Alaska. Where to begin there. Homemade Pork Green Chili and Margarita party to start, then Moose Burger Spaghetti, and lots and lots of Halibut tacos.

Turns out there's lots of other cool things about Alaska besides food though... and it was really fun to show the new guys around Alaska for their first time. It seemed like Alaskans and Virginians and New Jersey... ites can all get along. Yay!!

Some cool things we did... frozen lake hockey, snowmachining, snowshoeing, bush plane flying, wood fired hot tubbing, Chena Hot spring soaking, Denali sightseeing, we saw some moose, went sledding, kite flying, tons of jamming out and fun gigs with fun people, and drank lots of Alaskan Brewed beerskies. And guess what! Drew (the new drummer dude) got lots of cool pictures and a series of short videos of the stuff. Also lots of other cool stuff on our Facebook Page. I highly recommend checking out the pics and videos. A picture's worth a thousand words right?

We ended the tour in Portland, OR with a sweet private house concert with our friends Peter and Jill, played a gig at Pacific University, and got to see our old band mate Annalisa who took us out thrift store shopping. So fun!!

Bearfoot's first trip to France!!

Yup, it's true. We'll be playing at the La Roche Bluegrass festival on August 3rd this summer in La Roche sur Foron, France. Ronnie Bowman will also be there. We're trying to figure out a way to squeeze in a visit to Paris, but we'll see. Soooo excited!!

#1 on Billboard Bluegrass Charts!!

We're really honored at the reception that Doors and Windows has been receiving since it's release in April. During mid-May, thanks in large part to Merlefest, we were the #1 album on Billboard Magazine's Bluegrass charts. The album has been on the Americana charts now for three weeks, and was recently #6 on the Roots Music Report. We're thankful for that and really appreciate the support we have been receiving.
